Warriors get: Amar'e Stoudemire $19.95 $21.68 $23.41
Knicks get: 2012 1st GSW (7th Overall)
I accept. Although Stoudemire is a fat contract, an injury risk, and is older, he is a favorite of mine and I think he will bounce back. A Lottery pick is a fair price to pay for Stoudemire

If the Warriors have enough cap to make this move, good trade for both sides.

Knicks Accept. This will put us within cap limits, get us a nice young guy for this year and a rebuilt future.

I like this deal for Knicks as he loses a BIG contract and gains a nice pick.

Since we're still in the "waive anyone you want without consequences because the league is starting" mode, I'll overlook the cap ramifications of this trade.

This trade was very hard for me to vote. I even discussed it with some of my friends outside this league.
Even if i don't like him, Amare is still a top50-60 guy. Yes his contract is big, but in 1 years or 2, the vast majority of all top 50 guys will have a 15M+ contract.
So, my first instinct was instantly to veto. I thought a 1st round outside the top 5 is not enough for Amare. But i was still in doubt.
And if you are over the cap, even if you need to cut back under, there are other ways to do it that don't involve trading a top player for a #7 pick, so that's not really an argument i like.
If MIA trades LBJ for the #3 pick is still really bad, even if he "loses" a fat contract (no i'm not comparing Amare to JBJ, it's just a metaphor).
Am I undervalueing draft picks? I don't believe I am.
The odds that you find a fantasy player with the value of Amare in the #7 pick are small . Just look at pasts drafts:
Bismack Biyombo, Greg Monroe, Stephen Curry, Corey Brewer, Randy Foye, Charlie Villanueva, Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich, Nene, Eddie Griffin
Hoy many of those players are or can be as good as Amare is fantasy player. 1? 2? 3?
I think the hardest part of this trade is the fact that Amare has become a guy everybody loves to hate. Even me. Let me just say that i wouldn't do this trade if I'm GSW because i couln't make a pure rational decision...
But as a member of TC i think i'm supposed to try to be the most rational i can, and everyone's dislike for Amare can't hide the fact that, fantasy wise, this is a bad deal and an unbalanced one, in my opinion.
I know this trade will pass, but i'm going to
Veto (2-1)
