30 (30) Los Angeles Clippers | 0-7 – The only winless team in the league, their destiny appears to be set in stone. New management is already trying to make room for a big FA next year and collect a few assets along the way.
29 (28) Detroit Pistons | 1-6 – The Pistons still lack production across the board. They’ve shown some signs of a very slight improvement but that won’t change their status quo a lot in this league.
28 (27) Milwaukee Bucks | 2-5 – Another team on a downfall and with its course already defined, the Bucks are now preparing for the 2014 draft also. It’s a long process to rebuild uniquely by draft, but their roster composition at the time has them as a major FA player next year.
27 (26) Washington Wizards | 1-6 – In a very tough sub-league (5 of 9 opponents are at the top of the league), they suffered from the inactivity of the previous GM. They have some really good players, but injuries and slow starts all around are making it difficult to get out of this hole.
26 (25) Brooklyn Nets | 2-5 – In a bit of a stalemate due to GM indecision, the Nets are still trying to figure out if they’re competing or rebuilding. Till this day they are only above league average in 2 cats, and will need a lot of help to compete in a very tough sub-league.
25 (24) Houston Rockets | 1-6 – Rebuilding seems to be the road ahead considering the last Trade Block posted by the GM. Also above league average in 2 cats, the Rockets have some very good trade assets if they decide to sink it even further.
24 (29) New Orleans Hornets | 4-3 – A real case study on the impact of “luck” in fantasy games, the Hornets are 4-3 but are in the B5 in 5 cats. Let’s see if they’re caught up by variance along the way or if this amazing run continues.
23 (20) Dallas Mavericks | 1-6 – Dallas continues to move down on the board. They're still T10 in 3 cats, but being B5 in 4 isn't helping them in a very strong subleague.
22 (15) New York Knicks | 2-5 – Knicks keeps losing and their stats took a big hit this past week. They have now only two stats above league average and 5 cats in B10
21 (22) Bobcats | 2-5 – The Cats rise mostly due to others ineptitude to produce decent numbers. They’re not bad in any stat cat, but they’re not good in any either.
20 (21) Los Angeles Lakers | 3-4 – Kobe is playing in beast mode, and still, the Lakers are B10 in 5 cats. The only positive news in Kobeland is that the last 3 spots in this rankings are from teams in their Pacific/Central league, so, at least 6 wins should be available for free
19 (19) Indiana Pacers | 3-4 – The Pacers are starting to get it around a little bit and also benefit from the being in the Pacific/Central league. They still need major improvements
18 (23) Sacramento Kings | 5-2 – The Kings are still one of the bottom 10 teams in the entire league statwise and have only two stats above league average, but they already have 5 wins in what is a classic statistical outlier, and they play in the by far weakest mini-league Pacific/Central (with 5 teams ranked so far)
17 (18) Toronto Raptors | 4-3 – The 2nd 4-3 team in this board, the Raptors had a huge win against an underperforming Heat team. They’re improving all across the board, stat wise, but still need to add some talent that will help them make the jump into the true contenders group.
16 (12) – Utah Jazz | 2-5 – With the same amount of B10 cats as T10 ones, the Jazz is a clear middle of the pack team, statwise. Their bad luck is being part of the strongest mini-league, one that has only three teams bellow their #16 rank, which is making them lose games in a row
15 (17) Denver Nuggets | 1-6 – The last 1-6 team on the list, Denver as picked up the pace with all their rookies and young guns coming together at this point in the season. The future looks very bright in Mile High City. If only they were in a different division.
14 (13) – Portland Trailblazers | 5-2 – The blazers are seeing their ranks and stats decline in a fast and furious fashion. Some injuries and DTD status are hindering this team, but as long as they keep winning this way, they can wait for their team to get healthier without too many worries
13 (14) Minnesota Timberwolves | 3-4 – Love has already returned and Rubio is still starting to get some minutes on his legs, so they suffering a little bit with the lack of production that comes with rehabbing in the court. Expect them to make the leap anytime soon.
12 (16) – Cleveland Cavaliers | 6-1 – Another team benefiting from the already famous Pacific/Central mini-league. Their stats are around league average, but they find themselves 6-1 at the moment, even without their best player for a big part of the season
11 (6) Miami Heat | 6-1 – Handed their first loss by the Raptors, the Heat are underperforming at the time. They still have 4 bad cats and 1 right on the league average that may hinder them against more balanced teams and specific opponents.
10 (11) Atlanta Hawks | 4-3 – The hawks are now in the T10 in 5 cats. Let’s see if the best PG in the world can keep carrying this team on his shoulders until Lowry returns from another injury. Looking at their roster is hard to understand where all the stats are coming from
9 (7) Golden State Warriors | 5-2 – The Warriors keep on marching in the the Pacific/Central, due to allround rebuilding processes. 3 really good cats, 3 on the league average and 3 really bad makes this a very unbalanced team, so they can put up a fight against most opponents but can also lose to almost everyone.
8 (10) – Orlando Magic | 3-4 – And the rollercoaster continues for the Magic. We know they are under .500 and that we already listed a 6-1 team, but they would be 5-2 (or better) with the schedule of several other teams even in their mini-league, and statwise they are #6 in the entire league. With 5 cats in the T8 and the recent heist of JJ, they are bound to improve their standings soon
7 (9) Chicago Bulls | 5-2 – Everyone knows by now what Pacific/Central division means. Chicago is rock solid in 5 cats. When, and if, D-Rose returns, they’ll probably be true contenders.
6 (8) – Memphis Grizzlies | 5-2 – We keep waiting for the lack of diversity and moves by their GM to hurt this team, but as far as the real Grizz keep rolling and doesn’t play 2 games that week, they will be good also in our league. A very balanced roster, this is the only team without a B10 stat.
5 (3) – Phoenix Suns | 5-2 – Still one of the top teams, the Suns have some players taking a hit on their production recently and that’s showing on the stats sheets. They still have 5 T5 cats though, and are therefore a tough matchup for almost every team out there.
4 (5) – Philadelphia 76ers | 5-2 – The Sixers have 5 cats in the T5 (only the Spurs can say the same) and they punt two cats in which they are dead last (FT% and TO). With a very deep team and those T5 cats this is a very hard to team to beat, and even at 5-2 they didn’t “lose” any matchup so far without the use of tiebreakers.
3 (4) – Boston Celtics | 6-1 – Another team with 5 T5 cats, the Celts need some help on 3PM, FT% and BLK. This should be the last chance to win with PP and KG as their second and third best players, but their GM is trying to compete and build the future at the same time. Let’s see if that double strategy doesn’t hurt their chances of winning this season. Their annual bet with the Sixers should be a fun one to follow all season
2 (2) – Oklahoma City Thunder | 6-1 – Other than the Spurs, OKC is the only team with just 1 cat bellow league average (TO). They are still very Thunder dependent, but Mayo, Meeks and Allen are helping them succeed, as they still wait for Hayward and Favors to improve. Only if they do, this team as any chance of battling the Spurs
1 (1) San Antonio Spurs | 7-0 – The only undefeated team in the league, is looking too strong to everyone else so far. Their stat rank is an incredible #1, #1, #1, #4, #5, #7, #8, #11, #28 (TO). ‘Nuff Said
29 (28) Detroit Pistons | 1-6 – The Pistons still lack production across the board. They’ve shown some signs of a very slight improvement but that won’t change their status quo a lot in this league.
