Since the PO already started, the FA is closed. Do you still want to drop him at this moment?
I assume you don't...
PS: The original deadline was 2 weeks before the PO, but we postponed this also, when we did the same to trade deadline and options

FA is closed... And? Someone can still claim them if they would like...
I'm not sure what you're trying to get across with the post? Clarify for me a little please Tiago

At this point (now that FA is closed), is the penalty 50% or 75% of next year's salary?

Should be 50% of next year's salary... this season isn't over so its 75% of this years salary...

This topic was discussed but never set in stone under "A few questions" in the "Other Stuff" section. This was the closest I could find to an answer: "Regarding player drop i think the limit should be 1 weeks before playoffs. Then no free agency through playoff period." Read more: dynastyleaguebball.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=activity&thread=2789&page=1#8523#ixzz2NUeKt3XEI agree with the comments in that thread. It makes sense to set a cutoff date for drops counting toward the current year. Even if its set for the end if the regular season (because of one year contracts), that seems reasonable. But at this point, someone could completely avoid the 75% penalty by dropping a player - since all transactions for the year are finished.

Well if a rule was never set in stone, nothing is going to retroactively affect a drop. The cutoff dates for drops counting towards a current year should be the end of the league year, which we haven't reached yet. You're right by dropping a player before league end, then they could take a 75% hit this year and 50% next year but with FA closed they don't have the convenience of another GM maybe claiming said player and avoiding a penalty altogether.
I don't like that fact that once an action is taken this league is THEN trying to establish a rule. There was no rule in place, the season had not ended, so it's a 75% hit this year and 50% next year - with no opportunity for someone to claim the player and avoiding penalties at all.
That is penalty enough (not being able to have your player claimed)

This isn't a new topic. It was discussed in the thread referenced above.
If this is allowable, I'd really like to know. When my team gets eliminated from the playoffs, there are at least one or two players I would be more likely to drop as well if its only a 50% penalty next year. I don't really feel this is fair though. In terms of transactions, the season has already ended.
Mostly, I'm hoping for an answer from one of the LMs on this. At what point does the drop start counting for next season?

"It was discussed"... exactly. No rules were presented or enacted.
I'd like to know as well.
