New contracts offered must abide these rules:
- Duration
o 18-29 years old - 4 years max
o 30-33 years old - 3 years max
o 34-36 years old - 2 years max
o 37-99 years old - 1 year max
- Salary
o Minimum of 500k for each year
o 10% increase every year -> Salary Calculator Tool
- Salary vs. Duration
o Maximum for 1 year – 8.0M
o Maximum for 2 years – 14.0M
- Option - Possible Team Option for last year of contract (see below)
Team Options will be treated with the following rules:
- Existing Team Option (TO) in actual contracts will remain until the end of those contracts.
- New TO's are only possible for the last year of a player's contract (unlike some actual contracts that have last and penultimate year options)
- A team can only offer one new contract with a TO per season.
- The TO offered to FA have the same 10% increase, and that year counts towards the OCV value of the offer.
- TOs and are an integral part of a contract, so they will remain in place after a trade.
- The deadline for picking up TOs is the League’s Trade Deadline.
- If a team doesn't pick a player's TO for the next season in the Contract Committee, that player will be added to Free Agency.
Player options (PO) only exist in actual NBA contract, therefore:
- If a player picks up his PO in real life, that reflects in his contract on the league.
- When the remaining ones expire, they will be out of the league.
Rookie Contracts have the following structure, depending on where they were taken in the draft:
- 1st Round:
o 1st and 2nd years guaranteed
o 3rd and 4th years - TO with a 15% increase of salary
o QO for the 5th year with a 25% increase of salary
- 2nd Round:
o 1st year guaranteed
o 2nd and 3rd years - TO with a 15% increase of salary
o QO for the 4th year with a 25% increase of salary
- Value of Year 1
o #1 - 5.00M
o #2 - 4.00M
o #3 through #5 - 3.00M
o #6 through #10 - 2.00M
o #11 through #15 - 1.50M
o #16 through #30 - 1.00M
o #31 through #45 - 0.75M
o #46 through #60 - 0.60M
o Undrafted - minimum 0.50M
A team has until the start of the regular season to sign their rookies. As long as a team does not officially sign them, they don't count towards roster or cap limits, and can be dropped anytime with no penalty.
A team cannot sign a rookie, if it puts them over the cap.
If a team drafts a player that isn't going to play in the NBA that year it has 2 options:
- Signing him for the rookie contract, taking a roster spot and counting to your salary cap
- Just holding his rights. He doesn't take a roster spot (must be visible in Team Forum Roster) and doesn't count towards salary cap. When this player gets to the NBA his real contract will be his contract in our league.
The Mid-Level Exception (MLE) will be available to each team:
- They can sign one, and only one, player with a 5.00M salary that will not count their Salary Cap.
- A team only loses the rights to its MLE if it drops the player who has it. In this case, the MLE will only be available for next season.
- The MLE does not have a 10% yearly raise like regular contracts, and the maximum contract period is 2 years.
- It can only be used when signing a free agent that puts a team over the Cap.
- If a team trades for a player that has the MLE in his original team, he will not carry it with the trade so his salary (5.00M) will count to the new team's Cap.
14-Day Contracts (14D) will also be available to each team:
- Each team can sign 5 different players to a 15 day contract during the season.
- That contract will count 0.5M towards their Salary Cap, and can only be offered with that amount available.
- For a team to sign a player to such contract it must start a thread with that intention, it cannot be stated in the middle of an already ongoing UFA bidding.
- After the 15 day period, said player will return to the UFA pool.
- A team cannot sign the same player twice to during the same season.
