Hi guys,
As promissed, we've updated the rulebook with all that happened during last season, as well as with what we thought were the best suggestions left by all of you.
Everything is posted and locked, so we'll use a specific thread for any questions you may have.
These are the differences from the original rules, with the thread they are in and the topic they impact:
- Designated Chat Period (Owner Duties - Set a day and hour to be on the chat) - Less minutes played. (Scoring - Tiebreaker for regular season matchups) - It is now possible to send out 20.0M in total during one season (Salary Cap - Money that can be sent out) - Salary vs. Duration (Contracts - Maximum salary depending on number of contract years) - 14-Day Contracts (Contracts - A new way to sign a player) - Overall Contract Value (OCV - All the explanation regarding the method utilized to analyze contracts) - Skipped picks (Draft - Changed how skipped picks are handled) - Process of RFA (Free Agency - Details of all steps of RFA) - No coming back (Dropping Players - Waived players cannot be re-signed by original team) - Minimum value in trades (Trades - Minimum value for picks or players)

Thanks for all the hard work you put into these updates.
Just checking that I understand right, the 14 day contracts are only an option "during the season".? In other words, not available for the upcoming UFA period?
Also, do you have any suggestions for where we need to post our designated chat schedule? If there's no designated area, I'll plan on putting that up on my roster page. ?
Thanks again

Also, just curious, there's no option to retain the services of a player at the end of his 14 day contract?

The designated chat period should be posted along with the roster, in order to facilitate search to owners who are trying to make trades with you.
We'll also put that information the spreadsheet, on every team page.
And the 14-Day contracts are only available during the season, with no option to retain the services.
We feel this option is a nice adding to aliviate the pain of losing a player to an injury and having found a suitable player, be able to add him without the hassle of UFA bidding for a short period of time.
At the end of that period, he will become an UFA, giving every owner a shot at him. If the injury period to cover is longer than the 14 day period, you can always find another suitable player for you and sign him to another 14-Day contract.
That's also the reasoning for only being available during the season, since they don't make sense during the off-season.

I'm still very impressed with the first class job done with these updates.
Trying to figure out how some of them could be applied.
No questions or concerns about this, but I'd love to hear the reasons behind the "Salary vs. Duration" limits. (If Tim Duncan is still any good at all and opts out of his PO, then next year the first person to type "1 year, $8.0" wins him)
Regarding the 14 day contracts, if a player on a 14D contract isn't viewed as a free agent acquisition, I assume this means that there is no 24 hour wait time to allow for other bidders?
It states also: " - A team cannot sign the same player twice during the same season." Clearly this applies to multiple 14 day contracts, but does this exclude teams from bidding on free agents who they previously employed on 14D deals? The trouble is that if the player performs well, the signing team is penalized for their diligence, since they are the only ones prevented from offering a free agent contract.
When the player is removed upon completion of his 14D contract, is the $0.5 removed as well?
Some of these things are probably self-explanatory, but I appreciate any help. Thanks again for all the work keeping everything up to date.

Regarding "Salary vs. Duration", there is now a limit to how much you can offer with a 1y offer. This should eliminate managers going all out on FA's during the season with the money they have available and giving offers like 1y 15M or 2y 20M. A 2y offer with 6.07M AAS for 8.50pt is enough to go over the 1y 8.0M offer, so no signing is guaranteed with that offer, it's just the maximum you can offer for a single year deal.
About the 14D, there is no 24h waiting period. You post it, and he's yours. However you can't go to a decurring UFA bidding and put on an offer for a 14-Day contract. And the interpretation about "a team cannot sign the same player twice" should only be considered within the 14D topics. You can sign a player to a 14D and then participate in an eventual UFA bidding. The 14D works like the MLE in terms of cap ocupation, it doesn't take any cap space.
