Was trade:
Kent Bazemore $9,89 $10,88 $11,97 Willy Hernangomez $1,44 $1,50 $1,56 Round 1 pick #13
CHA trade: Markieff Morris $8,77 Danilo Gallinari $7,79 $8,57 $9,43 $5M Cap
i accept. I wanted to get out of the Bazemore contract badly and I like the potential of Gallo in LAC plus Markieff can put up some solid numbers. Losing big Willy could be painful but I'm overloaded at C and looking for Thon Maker to take his spot in the rotation. Pick 13 in my opinion will be a crap shoot and I have a higher pick anyway so remain in round 1 of this years draft.
thanks CHA for dealing and your patience!

I agree. I inherited a very poor roster with no first round pick and I need to rebuild. Gallo is a good player but he gets injured a lot. I am taking on extra salary as well as Bazemore (who could still have a comeback) but getting Willy Hernangomez at a cheap salary plus a pick in very good draft. I have to start somewhere.

I like it for both teams. CHA is rebuilding and WAS improves right away. The balance of this trade rests on Kent Bazemore's shoulders, and with Paul Millsap gone i think he might be much better this year.

I also like it for both. Galo is great if he stays healthy and Morris is a decent contribution but Willie at 1.5 and pick 13 should be a great way to start CHA much needed rebuild.
Where I don't like it for CHA is getting Baze with that big of a contract. But Atlanta irl lost a lot of usage in Hardaway, Milsapp and DH12 so maybe he can return to his 2015 level.
But what I'd really like to see is CHA using their free drop on Baze. If that's their plan, I really really like this trade for them.

I don't like it has much for CHA as i like it for WAS.
If we look at last year's stats, WAS gets the two best players (by a considerable margin), keeps the best contract (Gallo's 3y 8M is great for a top-50 player).
On CHA's side, they lose 2 top-100 players in exchange for a not so great pick (albeit in what appears to be a loaded draft), get Hernangomez on a great contract and with a lot of upside this year (according to pundits) and a contract i consider to be really bad unless Bazemore can shine on a depleted Hawks roster.
I would only consider this a solid move if CHA's using their free drop on Bazemore after the trade. Without this, for me it's borderline vetoable.
Since it envolves a new owner, on his very first move, i'm going to veto this deal, cause i believe that Bazemore contract has nightmare written all over it.

I really don't understand getting additional salary when one is trying to rebuild. Gallo alone is worth more on a rebuilding team due to his contract. That #13 pick may or may not turn out to be special but, like I've said before, I believe this is an 8 to 9 man draft. If this pick was in the top 6, it would be a no brainer for a rebuilding team but this is simply not enough. Bazemore can produce interesting numbers in PTS, REB and maybe AST with the departure of Millsap and Howard, but his % will probably count as a negative plus the TO increase due to more time trying to create a shot.
Washington gets two good players and cap space to absorb them, gets rid of a "negative" contract and a pick that will hardly amount to anything.
Overall, WAS gets much stronger and CHA gets much weaker. I have no problem with either of those unless they are the result of a single trade (check) that involves a new owner (check). So, it's a veto (2-2).
Note: If you rework the same trade and state that Kent Bazemore will be a free drop, this will be considered as a straight salary dump for a #13 pick from the CHA side and, therefore, easier to approve.

People keep talking about a free drop. All I can see in the rules is a drop within the first 48 hours after joining, therefore it is no available. Am I right on this or is there some other right?

Just setting out my logic on the trade generally in view of various comments.
The roster I inherited consists of 5 players and a pick in the 40. Two veterans are in the final year. I don't have the salary cap space to get building block players this year, so the best I could do is to struggle through somewhere in the bottom few and start rebuilding next year. Or I could get what I can by way of trades, with a view to getting young players and picks. That was where I was going with this trade.
As for details, Gallo is a good player at his best. However he misses 20+ games every year, and he is moving away from fantasy friendly Denver. His trade value is much lower than if he had a good fitness record and had stayed where he was. What I got was Willie Hernangomez on 3 year cheap deal plus a relatively high pick in an excellent draft. There's no way I would get a very high pick plus Willy for Gallo. I had to trade Morris as well. To make it work financially. The problem seems to beBazemore The salary is too high, but if he gets his form back (very possiblein the new Atlanta) the combination oh him and Willy would give 2 players at a fair average salary. If Bazemore doesn't work out I can still drop him later this year and keep the hit reasonable, and I'll still have Willy and the draft pick to start next year.
It's not always whether a trade makes one weaker and one stronger in the short term but whether it contributes to the integrity of the league long term. That's how I see it anyway.

Just to clarify, the rules state that the free drop is made on the 1st 48h. However, new owners in the past have been able to make the free drop after the 48h, because reading the rules and getting to know the league takes time.
As stated by the LM's, the free drop is still available to CHA, if Kevin wishes to use it.

On that basis, if trade approved, I confirm I will drop Bazemore.
