Team Option
Existing Team Option (TO) in actual contracts will remain until the end of those contracts. The deadline for picking up TOs is the NBA trade deadline. If a team doesn't pick a player's TO for the next season to the Contract Committee, that player will be added to Free Agency.
New TO's are only possible for the last year of a player's contract (unlike some actual contracts that have last and penultimate year options) and a team can only offer a maximum of 1 new contract with a TO per season.
The one per season TO offered to FA have the same 10% increase, and that year count towards Avg Salary offer.
TOs and QOs are an integral part of a contract, so they will remain in place after a trade.
Player Option
Player options (PO) only exist in actual NBA contract, therefore when the remaining ones expire, they will be out of the league.
In this particular case, if a player picks up his PO in real life, that reflects in his contract on the league.
Rookie Contracts
Rookie Contracts have the following structure, depending on where they were taken in the draft:
1st Round:
1st and 2nd years guaranteed
3rd and 4th years - TO with a 15% increase of salary
QO for the 5th year with a 25% increase of salary
2nd Round:
1st year guaranteed
2nd and 3rd years - TO with a 15% increase of salary
QO for the 4th year with a 25% increase of salary
Rookie Contracts will have salaries depending on where they were taken in the draft.
Draft Picks
1 - 5.00M for first year
2 - 4.00M for first year
3 through 5 - 3.00M for first year
6 through 10 - 2.00M for first year
11 through 15 - 1.50M for first year
16 through 30 - 1.00M for first year
31 through 45 - 0.75M for first year
46 through 60 - 0.60M for first year
Undrafted - minimum 0.50M for first year
A team as until Oct 28 to sign their rookies. As long as a team does not officially sign them, they don't count towards roster or cap limits, and can be dropped anytime with no penalty.
A team cannot sign a rookie, if it put's them over the cap.
If some Team drafts a player that isn't going to play in the NBA that year it has 2 options:
- Signing him for the rookie contract, taking a roster spot and counting to your salary cap
- Just holding his rights. He doesn't take a roster spot (must be visible in Team Forum Roster) and doesn't count towards salary cap. When this player gets to the NBA his real contract will be his contract in our league.
The Mid-Level Exception
The Mid-Level Exception will be available to each team to sign one, and only one, player with a 5.00M salary that will not count for your Salary Cap. The MLE does not have a 10% yearly raise like regular contracts, and the maximum contract period is 2 years.
It can be used when resigning a player or signing a free agent that puts a team over the SC. A team can only have one player signed to the MLE. If Team A trades for a player that has the MLE in his original team, he will not carry it with the trade so his salary (5.00M) will count to the new team's Salary Cap.
A team only loses the rights to its MLE if it drops the player who has it. In this case, the MLE will only be available for next season.
The MLE should be identified in a team's roster page.
