Dropping Players
Teams can release a player to the waiver wire, where he will stay for 48 hours (during the regular season). While he is on waivers, other teams may claim him, for his existing salary. The team with the highest waiver priority gets the player.
If he is not claimed, he is said to have "cleared waivers", and is treated like any unrestricted free agent, able to sign with any team other than the team that waived him.
Each season's starting waiver priority is in the reverse order of the team standings from the previous season (in this first season, we use the reverse standings of the real NBA). After you win a waived player, you are placed at the bottom of the waiver priority.
